BAHALWALPUR: Officials from the Bahawalpur Zoo said that a lion cub had died on Thursday. The officials said that the negligent attitude of the zoo administration, lack of air coolers and the provision of inferior quality feed had made the cub sick. The death of the cub raised the number of lion deaths to eight during the past two months in the zoo. Zoo Curator Chaudhry Akbar remained unavailable for comments. The zoo has been reeling under successive scandals ranging from the procurement of inferior meat at throwaway prices to death of exotic birds and animals.
