SHANGLA:

Sixteen people were put behind bars for not taking preventive measures against dengue larvae on Thursday.

“Places such as open water tanks are hatcheries for the mosquito larvae but these people did not follow instructions that were given to the neighbourhoods over mosque loudspeakers,” said the district government’s Pervaiz Khan. They were arrested for not covering the water tanks in their houses and auto workshops, especially those which are located by the roadside.

The assistant commissioner of Shangla, Habibullah Wazir, directed the district government official to inspect the city and give him a report of the measures taken to fight dengue. Khan along with the Besham police arrested the people under Section 264 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
