PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to start a grand operation against terrorists, kidnappers, target killers and extortionists in the province, Express News reported on Thursday.
According to the Home Department, the province has been divided into 26 zones for the operation.
More than 100 contingents of commandos have been arranged and a list of around 2,000 suspects has also been prepared.
Oil and gas installations, Water and Power Development Authority property, airports, and television, radio, railway and bus stations were also declared sensitive.
The police have been put on red alert throughout the province as well.

There arent going to be tanks shelling houses or F16's dropping bombs... there should not be any need for civilian casualties and displacement! Grow up guys... seriously!
PTI believes in muzakrat not action. This plan is against the philosophy of Imran Khan who wants to have eternal dialogue with suicide bombers, kidnappers, carjackers and murderers.
One thing I do not understand is why do they announce this. Isn't this telling 'criminals' to go underground? Also isn't this the job for the police to do this in the first place? It is like a doctor announcing on his facebook page every morning, 'Today I will see patients'. Thats what the doctor is supposed to do so are the police in KP.

@ashraf: You can say the criminals were given free hand in the ANP and previous governments. But since PTI came and put Nasir Durrani at the helm. Thing started to change rapidly and it is not far away that people will actually start to respect and rely of KPK Police. In sha Allah.
Why has K.P.K government suddenly decided to do operation against "their own people" now? Before army operation, IK was busy doing Tsunami rallies against any action on criminals and terrorists.
@Adnan Siddiqi: At that time perhaps the KP Police did not had the capacity to launch such an operation.
Does this mean the criminals were given free hand all this while. Shouldn't operation against criminals be a routine matter instead of being conducted on 'special instructions' from someone.

Better late then never, I wish a similar operation across country especially sindh!
Good Move such operations are also needed in other parts of the country especially Karachi which is becoming a hub of political terrorism. I hope the govt of KP is successful in these operations.
This should have been done in the aftermath of D.I. Jailbreak and most recently after the incident of a PIA airliner coming under fire.
