Traffic trouble: Drivers blamed for most accidents

Many motorists tended to overtake on the wrong side or approached roads from the wrong direction.

FAISALABAD: A report issued by traffic police on Tuesday said that motorists’ negligence caused around 70 percent of road accidents. The report was authored by Faisalabad Research and Development. As many as 40 percent of road accidents happened due to failure of motorists to adhere lane discipline. The report said a majority of motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers failed to install rear-view mirrors on their vehicles and did not use indicators while turning. Many motorists tended to overtake on the wrong side or approached roads from the wrong direction.
