Public transport: KCCI demands fitness certificates

KCCI demanded strict action to be imposed on filling of CNG in those buses which are not bearing fitness certificates

KARACHI: Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Muhammad Idrees on Tuesday expressed his deep concern over loss of precious lives due to a blast in CNG cylinder of a bus at Rashid Minhas Road, demanding strict action must be imposed on filling of CNG in those buses which are not bearing fitness certificates. “People are dying in CNG blasts due to a lack of maintenance by transporters but the concerned authorities are not paying any attention to this issue and lives of millions of people at stake as they travel in these dilapidated buses every day,” said Idrees. He urged the government to take notice of the incident and order strict ban on filling of CNG in public transport which do not bear fitness certificates. He also demanded that a strict mechanism be put in place to check the quality and authenticity of CNG cylinders installed in public transport vehicles.
