In a bid to make the province self-sufficient in the production of milk, meat and food, the government will be introducing reforms in the livestock department, said Special Assistant to the CM on Livestock and Dairy Development Mohibullah Khan.
According to Khan, 75% of the population of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is involved in the agriculture sector and thus the government has decided to support farmers and dairy farm owners.

In a statement issued on Sunday, while chairing a department meeting, Khan urged the relevant officials to utilise all available resources to equip the livestock department with modern technology.
Khan directed the officials to take measures to control the outbreak of fatal diseases in animals, encourage breeding, curb cattle smuggling and keep a check on the sale of substandard veterinary medicines.
He also directed the livestock department to arrange special training courses for dairy farm owners.
