Boiling point: Scores protest against power outage

BAHAWALPUR: More than a hundred residents of Saddar Pulli locality of Bahawalpur protested against power authorities on Thursday. Electricity supply to the area remained suspended for more than 24 hours after a transformer malfunctioned on Wednesday night. Allah Rakha, one of the protesters, told The Express Tribune that they had been facing many difficulties due to the power outage. “We are still without electricity and this has also affected the water supply,” he said. He said neighborhood mosque too had no water.Another protestor, Muhammad Nadeem, said that the locality was without electricity for more than 24 hours. “Those who are fasting face the most problems. Our children are crying,” he said. The transformer was replaced by power authorities late on Thursday after the protest.
