MULTAN:

Bhakkar police on Thursday announced they had arrested six terror suspects, who they believed were involved in sectarian killings.

Bhakkar District Police Officer (DPO) Shakir Hussian Dawar told reporters at his office that the suspects had been promoting sectarianism in several districts of southern Punjab.

“They are behind six sectarian murders in Bhakkar district that were meant to raise tensions between Muslim sects,” he said. He said the murders were committed near imambargahs and mosques.

The DPO said the suspects had also helped terrorists plan the attack in Kotla Jam. “Later, they helped the killers escape from Bhakkar,” he said.

He said the six were being kept in a high security prison. He said more arrests were likely in coming days using information obtained from the arrested suspects.
