On air: UMT set to launch radio station

The channel would also cover university programmes.

Officials from the University of Management and Technology (UMT) on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Electronic and Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) had recently issued a radio licence to the UMT varsity.


The official date for the inauguration of radio transmissions is yet to be finalised.

The service would be used to further a positive image of Pakistan and serve as a platform for youth friendly discussions.

The channel would also cover university programmes.


The service would be relayed at 98.2 MHz over a radius of 30 kilometres, the officials said.


University of Management and Technology Rector Dr Hassan Sohaib Murad said that the university’s radio station would air educational and entertainment programmes.


He said that the faculty and the students would use the service for social change.


Dr Hassan Sohaib Murad said that the service would also highlight issues of academic, economic and social importance in addition to portraying a positive image of the country.
