Death toll increases: Naegleria takes another life

The death was confirmed by Karachi’s EDO Health Dr Zafar Ejaz.

KARACHI: The Naegleria Fowleri claimed another life in Karachi taking the death toll to six in the province it was confirmed on Wednesday. So far, five of the six deaths have taken place in Karachi and one in Hyderabad. Nearly a month ago, nine-month-old Mahnoor, daughter of Imran, who is a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal was taken to a private hospital and died within two days of being being admitted there. The report of her death, however, which confirmed that she died because of Naegleria was released on Wednesday. The death was confirmed by Karachi’s EDO Health Dr Zafar Ejaz who admitted that there was less chlorine in the water in some parts of the city. He advised that the people should take precautionary measures and understand that the situation is serious.
