Six-month imprisonment: Indian prisoner released by local court

Abu Bakar Nohrio, a resident of Rajasthan, was arrested from the Civil Lines in Hyderabad.

HYDERABAD: An Indian citizen, imprisoned in the Hyderabad jail for over six months, was released by the local court on Tuesday. Abu Bakar Nohrio, a resident of Rajasthan, was arrested from the Civil Lines in Hyderabad on December 27, 2013. The Cantt police booked Nohrio under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and investigated him for espionage. He told the police that he had unknowingly crossed the border but could not explain why he came to Hyderabad from Tharparkar. On Tuesday, the civil judge and judicial magistrate VIII, Abdul Qadir, turned the period of time that he spent in the prison into his punishment and ordered the police repatriate him to India.
