NBP defeated Multan by six wickets on the third day after reaching the 173-run target with the loss of just four wickets following Multan’s disappointing 129 in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy. Mohammad Talha, three for 22, and Wasim Khan, three for 40, proved to be the nemesis for Multan’s batting line-up who had performed well in the first innings by amassing impressive 303 followed by NBP’s 261. Nasir Jamshed led NBP to victory with 82 in the chase.

Rawalpindi continue good form

PIA tip-toed to 54 to three in their second innings after Rawalpindi carried on from their overnight score of 183 for four to finally be dismissed for 323. Hosts Rawalpindi looked stable thanks to Zahid Mansoor (43), Adnan Mufti (55), and Muzamil Nizam (36*) after restricting PIA to 214 in the first innings.

SNGPL’s remarkable recovery

SNGPL cruised to 359 for seven from an overnight 66 for two on, still trailing the hosts who had amassed 465 in the. SNGPL had Ali Waqas (52), Naeemuddin (34), Azhar Shafiq (102), and Usman Arshad (83) to thank for a brilliant recovery. Sialkot bowlers seemed to struggle against the batting line-up of their opponents as Mohammad Abbas and Mansoor Amjad both grabbed two wickets each on day three.

ZTBL take control again

Faisalabad, who were looking strong at the close of play on day two with 151 for one, were bowled out for 287 by ZTBL who gained a 58-run first-innings lead and had extended that by scoring 82 for two the second time round. Although Asif Hussain (56) completed his half-century and was given strong support by Naveed Latif (41), ZTBL’s Raza Hasan, four for 92, and Mohammad Khalil, three for 48, restricted their opponents in style.

Day three saw no play in Karachi where matches will resume today.
