Alternative energy: LoI invited for on-grid solar power plants

The AEDB has issued 24 LoIs for on-grid solar PV power plants of cumulative capacity of approximately 792.99 MW.

ISLAMABAD: The Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) has issued 24 Letters of Intent (LoIs) for on-grid solar PV power plants of cumulative capacity of approximately 792.99 MW. AEDB officials told APP that four companies had submitted the feasibility studies of their projects of which one was approved by the board. They said other sponsors are at the stage of preparation of feasibility studies. The government has also planned to generate 1000 MW electricity from Quaid-e-Azam Solar Parks Phase-I and Phase II. The AEDB officials said that the board had also initiated Solar Village Electrification Programme under PM’s directive and 3,000 solar home systems have been installed in 49 villages of district Tharparkar, Sindh. Another 51 villages in Sindh and 300 villages in Balochistan have been approved for electrification using solar energy and the project will be implemented shortly.
