LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed 16 points this month for selling unpacked oil and ghee. The authority had banned the sale of unpacked oil and ghee four months ago. In June, a PFA team raided Shalimar Oil Company and found a large quantity of unpacked cooking oil. The company was sealed. A unit manufacturing Sunny Gold Bread was also sealed for using unpacked oil. A PFA official said 91 eateries had been sealed and fined in the last few months for using rancid oil. He said samples of 184 brands of oil and ghee had been sent to laboratories for testing. The official said the authority had raided six oil-manufacturing units in Karol Ghati a few weeks ago and sealed them for making oil using animal waste and carcasses. Another two units were sealed on Raiwind-Manga Road for making oil from chicken remains.
