Teacher’s woes: Court issues notice over unpaid salaries

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Sindh chief secretary, the education and literary department secretary and the provincial accountant-general to submit their replies on a petition of a Sindhi language teacher against unpaid salaries. A division bench, headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar, was hearing a petition filed by Naila, who sought court directives to the relevant authorities for the payment of salaries. The petitioner submitted that she was appointed as a Sindhi language teacher around 18 months ago, after she had passed the written examination and interview. She said that, since her appointment in August 2012, she was diligently performing her duty but was deprived of her salary for the last 18 months. The petitioner requested the court direct the relevant authorities to pay her salary.
