Medical facilities KTH gets state-of-the-art ventilator

PESHAWAR: Khyber Teaching Hospital received on Saturday a state-of-the-art ventilator for critically ill patients. Assistant professor of surgery, Dr Ziauddin Afridi, and Dr Taj Sabir donated the ventilator which cost Rs1.6 million for the intensive care unit of the medical facility, stated a press release. In the statement, Dr Afridi said the purpose of the ventilator is to improve the respiratory function of patients with pneumonia, chronic obstructive airway disease, opium poisoning, tetanus and epilepsy, and post-operative patients not recovering from anesthesia. Hospital chief Inayat Shah Roghani thanked the doctors for the financial support and urged other philanthropists to also contribute. Roghani added they were also planning to repair all machines lying idle in the storeroom of the hospital.
