Cheating The Public: Swindler sent on physical remand

An investigation against him is under way.

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Friday sent a man allegedly involved in swindling people on a 14-day physical remand. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi had arrested the accused, identified as Ghulam Haider, for being involved in cheating and defrauding the general public. The accused, who has a fruit business, allegedly received an amount of Rs26.6 million from the public on the pretext of returning heavy profits to them through his business. Later, after paying profits to the people on their investment for some time, the accused went into hiding. After people lodged complaints with the NAB director general in Rawalpindi, Haider’s arrest warrants were issued and he was later nabbed from a hideout. An investigation against him is under way.
