Whisked away: HRCP vice-chairman’s brother kidnapped

PESHAWAR: The teenage brother of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s (HRCP) vice-chairman was kidnapped from Hayatabad phase VI late Thursday night. “We have been told that Naveed Orakzai, 19, is the brother of HRCP Vice-Chairman Muhammad Saif Orakzai,” said an official of Tatara police station. He said Naveed was in his car when three men intercepted the vehicle, took him hostage at gunpoint and whisked him away in his own vehicle. The car was later found abandoned near a nullah just outside Hayatabad. An investigation is being based on the preliminary motive of kidnapping for ransom.
