RAWALPINDI: A jewellery shop was robbed in Waris Khan area of Rawalpindi, media reported on Thursday. Four armed robbers broke into the jewellery shop of Faqeer Muhammad in Dhoke Khaba around 2:30pm and held him hostage at gunpoint. They looted Rs200,000 cash, jewellery, mobile phones and other valuables from the shop and fled on two motorcycles, the reports said. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police of the area claimed to have arrested eight suspected gamblers and seized Rs25,140 cash, seven mobile phones and other relevant equipment from their possession. Acting on a tip-off, a police party raided a gambling den in Dhoke Khaba and arrested Shahbaz, Nadeem, Abdul Qudoos, Zahid, Afzal, Zubair, Kamran and Bilal Naseem. The police have registered separate cases against the suspected gamblers under the relevant laws and started investigation.
