KARACHI: Lawyers boycotted all legal proceedings in the city on Thursday in protest against the police for failing to arrest those involved in manhandling lawyers and extending threats to a judicial magistrate. They did not turn up to plead their cases at the Sindh High Court, City Courts or Malir District Courts. The Karachi Bar Association announced that they would be going on a strike. The Sindh High Court Bar Association and the Malir District Bar Association agreed to do the same. The associations condemned the fact that the policemen had not been arrested. KBA claims that on July 4, policemen barged into the bar association’s office to arrest a suspect and manhandled their colleagues. According to the KBA, another inspector of the crime branch also allegedly hurled threats to the magistrate in the open court on the same day.
