Express News reported earlier today that a drone strike in North Waziristan killed seven people and injured three others.
"I have also seen media reports about the drone strike but have no confirmation as yet about the veracity of these reports," Aslam said.
"Our position on drone strikes is very clear. We have condemned these attacks. We have made it clear that these attacks are unacceptable, they violate Pakistan’s sovereignty," the spokesperson added.
Aslam remarked that Pakistan has been successful in creating a strong public opinion against drone strikes which violate the international law, adding that drone strikes complicate efforts to eliminate terrorists.
The unmanned aircraft is said to have targeted a building and car in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan Agency.
Two US drones fired four missiles, local security officials said.
A local security official told AFP that Thursday's drone strike had killed four foreign fighters.
"The compound and a vehicle parked inside were completely destroyed," the official told AFP.
Another security official in Peshawar confirmed the attack.
The last drone strike carried out in the tribal area was on June 18. It had killed at least six militants in North Waziristan.
More than 2,000 people have been killed in drone attacks since August 2008, according to an AFP tally, with critics charging that the strikes cause many civilian casualties.
Previous strikes
On June 11, two successive drone strikes reportedly killed around 16 people and injured few others in Miramshah.
This was the year's first drone strike after a six-month lull. The previous drone attack on Pakistani soil occurred on December 25, 2013 in the Qutab Khel area of Miramshah, killing four suspected militants.
According to media reports, the strikes were temporarily halted at the Pakistani government’s request.

@Baba Jee: My respected Baba jee please explain why the America is not doing such thing in India our politicians are also like yours but the only difference is that the Army can not dictate to politicians.
@Khalid: You are right my brother the drones are doing the same work which the Pak PAF and Pak Army but I fail to understand why most Pakistanis are against drone strikes. Pray for the early success of this operation and it will be a Ramzan gift from Pak Army.
Say welcome to drone becoz these animals deserve it.
Americans were carefully monitoring the escape routes of the rattlesnakes after the launch of operation. They know precisely where they have taken refuge, and know how to effectively squash their heads. This is just the beginning of the end for the minions of Ch. Nisar.
I learnt from reliable sources that Pak army invited this drone strike on the definite targets in an inaccessible area.
@Baba Jee: Once again, drone strikes are only possible with forward target spotters (ISI agents!) on the ground in the target area! Once again, there would be no drone strikes in "Sovereign" Pakistan IF there were no Safe Havens provided to Good Taliban terrorist Assets in the FATA region!
@Ashraf: The drones also put the local population in danger, whereas Pak Army and PAF move 800,000 people out to safety and comfort before starting operations. All this is in addition to the ready help with running the government from time to time. Double zindabad!
America is answerable to no law or international body. It imposes its will on others by hook or by crook. Creating bad press, to engineering economic hardship, to squeezing food and water sources, to launching militants, to use of force, to orchesterating coups, to fomenting civil wars, to committing untold atrocities are all fair game for her. If the government of Pakistan was its puppet, America would have conveniently used it as a rubber stamp, and since its not, America conveniently ignores it. Similar is the case of UN, if UN acts as America’s puppet, she uses it as a rubber stamp, else America ignores it. The bottom line is America’s interest, talk of democracy and terrorism is an eye wash to pursue those interests. Supression of political will of masses causes backlash, which US 'helps' to crush, given its against her puppets, hence torture in jails goes up for the cull whenever puppets are in power. America has always supported dictators in Pakistan as their weak position at home can be exploited for advancing America’s interests. In order to create confusion and discredit the efforts of current government of Pakistan, America is trying to create an impression that drone operations are being conducted with the consent of the government of Pakistan, which is not true. This only happened under the dictator, whom America exploited as usual. America wants pseudo-democracy in Pakistan with elected officials only about as powerful as a city mayor. All surveys report an overwhelming majority of Pakistanis oppose drone operations but that is not important for America. On the other hand if there is an issue that less than 5% of Pakistanis care about but it can be used to exploit the government, Americans would blow it up to look like a major issue for the sake of her interests. US spies on many top Pakistani polititians according to Wikileaks. The goal again is advancing US interests through exploitation of polititians.
Probably the first strike on an Haqqani target.
When Pakistan will say enough is enough !
Dharna Time for PTI now may be or may be NOT this time
@TuQ: if this cruelty continues then we will be safe from cruelty of your beloved terrorists
A drone a day keep the TTP away. Welcome drones by clapping your hands.
Now then - Where is IK when you really need him?
Please dont let these destroyers of our culture, religion and country they deserve this, even drones are welcome now ...
Hello, my name is drone and I'm the national Bird of Pakistan. I can assure you I'm not extinct, per this news. Arnolds voice "I'll be back"
Don't know why I have started loving these drone strikes recently...
@QADRI THE GREAT:
Come here boy, its time for your dose of Prozac again.
Drones are against the constitution, sovereignity, human rights, animal rights, causes global warming and depletes water table. Drones only hit civilians whereas carpet-bombing by PAF only targets terrorists without a single civilian casualty. That is the differnce between US and PAK military ! Pak fauj Zindabad !!
Kill them from all angles!
Now we will see big names of TTP killed in one drone strike, but we have been searching for such names in ISPR reports that only tells NUMBER of people killed etc. Big names appear when Taliban are only Taliban, not good and bad.
Where are you TuQ? where is your so called revolution??? why not any fatwa against this cruelty???
Only Great Qadri has the courage to look in the eyes. These people take money and sell souls. Shame on this gov't. Only revolution can fix Pakistan. Even 'inqalabi tsunami' is failing. Qadri is the future for Pakistan and he'll fight terrorists unlike this fake gov't
