Addressing a joint press conference after the meeting, Qureshi spoke about the similar views that their parties shared on many issues, while describing the meeting as ‘very successful, positive and encouraging’.
The two parties, according to Qureshi, will move forward within constitutional limits.
He said both the parties were on the same page and agreed that nothing unconstitutional would be done and democracy would not be derailed.
“Both the parties agree on three points –May 2013 elections were rigged, the election commission did not play its role and that protest should be held constitutionally and legally for securing rights,” Qureshi added.
He accused the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of looting the rights of the people and failing to pull people out of crises. He said Imran Khan had given the call of a long march on August 14 in which political parties, civil society and ordinary citizens would participate.
“We are being accused of derailing democracy whereas our objective is to strengthen and consolidate it,” he added.
Speaking at the occasion Chuadhry Shujaat said those blaming them for working for unconstitutional change and derailment of democracy should tell them if they could spot any signs of democracy.
“It is democracy that 15 people were killed [in Model Town on June 17] but no FIR was registered against the culprits nor was anyone arrested,” he said. “Had there been democracy in the country, no Model Town tragedy would have occurred.”
Chaudhrys meet Qadri
Later, Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi visited Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri to apprise him about their meeting with Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
“All parties will have to be united and adopt a unanimous line of action otherwise incidents like Model Town tragedy will continue to occur during the tenure of this govt which has come into power through rigging,” Shujaat said. “We want to unite all parties on one point.”

These so called 'Grand Alliances' are being formed day in and day out by Sheikh Rasheed and PML-Q for example. Today PTI and PML-Q have formed a so called 'Grand Alliance'. Hahaha! These 'Grand Alliances' are only of dacoits and people who want to derail democracy.
in fact they all have "one point" agenda and they all agree on that......
yes you are right.... they all want to "serve" the poor "awam"...(if you believe it, you are very stupid)
@Jamil: Sharif biraadraan are very sincere and hard working for the cause of public? No. Partly because this public didn't vote for them, they just stole their votes, IK must fight till the end, or else there'll be trust in the next elections.
@Saleem: Shame on MNS and party to steal, rob and hijack democracy. Hats off to IK for challenging the 'kings'.
IK, your next door will be MQM, for power you can do any thing...
Lack of leadership is weakening the federation, separatist sentiment blocked to free media is expanding. Right now the sentiment is in interior sindh, karachi situation every one know, balochistan, north waziristan, for gilgit baltistan and azad kashmir situation is already well known to many of you. NS cannot keep the country intact. i think major structural changes are required specially in "touch me not Institutions". i think kiyani and zardari were more intelligent then current regime.
I almost threw up,could never imagine IK entering into Grand Alliance with Grand Masters of Opportunism. Is IK thinking of his Fall before Rise to Power?
We should see Pakistan functioning without disturbing it and should not carry on grudges even if they are real and justified.
Instead we must contribute positively through visits there, spending there and money remmitance to there. There is much more better to life in beautiful Pakistan than to drum about those who have forcefully privileged themselves to the tune of deigning and looking down any thing they see.
Its not just going to be a political alliance it is going to be a graaand alliance and all the political graandoos are going to be in it like the ones above.
@Saleem: Agreed on only three points....whats wrong in it...
Another U turn by U turn Khan , he has no ethics in his life.
Oh wow! Punjab's once biggest dacoit Parvez Elahi (In not so many words of IK himself) will now be IK's torchbearer of Tsunami.
All those politicians are making alliance who supported referendum of Pervez Musharraf. All of these are puppets of establishment. All of them are being used by establishment to put pressure on government for early release of Musharraf.
Due to frustration, IK is contacting Q League, Sheikh Rasheed and Tahir ul Qadri. All of these are not sincere with Pakistan. They are losers and they will remain losers because public rejected them in May 2013 elections.
Wawoo, Ch Pervez Elahi and Sh Rashid will change the fate of nation.... what an inqulab and what a thinking of Imran Khan seeking support from Ch Shujat for inqulab....I hope IK is getting crazy for power but I am sure he will never as he doesn't have passion to bear others..... king maker will never bring such a person who will create problem for them therefore he can play in street but cannot become a premier.
*Down with Shareef khandan rule over Pakistani's! *
I want to hear IK talk about status quo parties next time he is on a rant... PML-Q and MQM... Let bygones be bygones. Same logic should also apply to relationship/understanding with PPP.
Imran has to contact PML-Q. This reality is enough to understand the frustration of PTI.
IK is now showing his true colors by uniting with the turncoats and the abettors of the usurped democracy.
Chaudhry brothers fighting for the cause of democracy is like Jesse James and his brothers fighting for the arrest of all bank robbers. This duo not too long ago had claimed they would get Musharraf elected in uniform again and again. Shame on IK for ganging up with this lot, no matter how genuine his own intentions.
Grand Alaince is a Blind Alliance.PML-Q has not been involved in corrutpion? If the elemination corruption is main objective of TUQ and IK? All thugs are being united and no concern about Pakistan's security.
Alliance for what cause. Just to derail democracy.
Sub-standard politics by sub-standard politicians. Their only motive is to destabilize Pakistan and its economy.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said both the parties were on the same page and spoke about the similar views that their parties shared on many issues, while describing the meeting as ‘very successful, positive and encouraging. It is too much for the party which wants to bring the change. PTI has forgotten that PML-Q is a status quo party. There is just one thing common between them: "opposition of PML-N". Imran Khan should know that Chaudhries are just seeking their interests. They were rejected in last 2 elections by people of Pakistan. They want to destabilize federal government. They are opportunity seekers who can go to any limits for their benefit. If opportunity arises, they will not take a minute to betray Imran Khan.
EXCELLENT MOVE ! CRUSHED THE RIGGED DEMOCRACY.
Seemingly pathetic efforts by the Establishment: I mean, could they not get any better than these?! Here is a story for Imran Khan, though: A villager went out to see a Mela, and before going he bought himself a brand new bright and beautiful Doshala (muffler) to wear around his neck. In the Mela rush, however, a thief pulled the poor villager's Doshala and fled, never to be caught. When the villager returned home, people asked him about how was the Mela. Poor villager's response: "What Mela? This was only organized to steal my Doshala!" I am afraid Khan might lose his Doshala also in this Bhan Mati ka Mela organized by the Establishment. The thieves in this Mela are very seasoned and smart!
Another U turn by Mr. IK. It's no surprise he was never serious about continuity of democracy and only wants to grab power at any cost. First fake rigging allegations, now fake alliances. It's a shame how PTI supporters have been tricked time and again on fake "tabdeli" slogans.
What an alliance of champions of democracy! Shame on Imran Khan who will go to any length to gain power.
Couldn't understand the headline: "Alliance in making"
Iran and US both agree oxygen is a basic necessity so is it an alliance? Rigging in 5/11 elections is a fact as clear as broad-light daylight.
