Railway improvement: Vigilance teams to root out graft

Official says 30 more locomotives for freight trains will be added by end of the current financial year.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has strengthened a ‘Vigilance Cell of Pakistan Railways’ to eliminate corruption from it. Special teams have been constituted to conduct raids to control the menace of ticket-less revenue, according to an official. Steps are being taken to make the railways profitable, he said. “We will bring a hundred more engines on track during the next financial year which will help increase the frequency of rail traffic.” The official said that 30 more locomotives for freight trains will be added by the end of the current financial year.
