KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has challenged the pre-arrest bail of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Sindh High Court (SHC) in a dozen graft cases by the federal anti-corruption court in alleged ‘excess of jurisdictions.’ A SHC bench is scheduled to take up review applications filed by the FIA today (Wednesday.) The special federal anti-corruption court in Karachi had on June 17 given the former premier pre-arrest bail against a surety of Rs 100,000 in each of the 12 cases filed by the FIA regarding the misappropriation of subsidies in the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). The investigating agency argued in the applications that the special anti-corruption court had acted beyond its jurisdictions as it had suspended the non-bailable warrant and granted bail to the accused, which is otherwise not permitted under the law. The agency pleaded to the high court to review the order passed by the anti-corruption court.
