Accomplices: 34 of a village accused of beating cops

FAISALABAD: 34 neighbours and relatives of a robbery suspect allegedly attacked a police team on Tuesday, when they went to arrest the criminal from Chak 280-GB, Rodala Road. Madina Town police said Assistant Sub Inspector Shamshair Ali, on a tip-off, raided a house to arrest Khizar Hayat, who was wanted in a robbery case that was registered at Madina Town police station. Hayat’s relatives and some people in the area thrashed the police team. Police said the people fired shots in the air and helped Hayat escape. Rodala Road Station House Officer Akhtar Waince said Madina Town police had raided the house without informing them first. However, they had registered a case against 34 people in the village for beating up policemen and setting a criminal free, he said.
