Fatal collision: Eight killed, 11 others injured in accident
Three passengers died on the spot while the other five succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital.

Eight people died while 11 were injured when a speeding van collided into a truck on Super Highway near Nooriabad on Sunday morning. According to sources at Edhi, three passengers died on the spot while the other five succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital. The injured passengers were earlier taken to a hospital in Nooriabad but were later shifted to Liaquat University hospitals in Jamshoro and Hyderabad. According to Nooriabad SHO Hashim Brohi, the accident took place while the speeding van, bearing the registration number TF-5699, smashed into a trawler truck while trying to overtake. “The accident was so severe that the van’s roof pressed onto the seats,” said Motorway police inspector Irfan Ahmed. “We had to cut its body to pull out the dead and injured.” The deceased were residents of Sukkur and Shikarpur districts. Their bodies were shifted to the mortuary at Liaquat University hospital, Hyderabad. An FIR of the incident had not been registered till the filing of this report. The SHO said that the police have seized both the vehicles. The driver of the truck has been arrested while the van driver has expired.
