KARACHI: The month-long Pakistan Sport Board (PSB) table tennis camp, which included 14 players – 13 boys and one girl – concluded on Sunday at the national coaching centre in Karachi.

The PSB camp was aimed at training the U16 players.

According to trainer Farrukh Kamal, the athletes learnt different techniques during the course of the month and most of the attention was paid to physical training.

The camp continued in the Ramazan as well, with sessions taking place after sunset.

“It was an important camp and the emphasis was on fitness this time,” Kamal told The Express Tribune.

“In table tennis, it is important to have speed and reach. Both the qualities can only come through training. We later went on to focus on technique as well.”

The standout players in the camp were Mehdi Azhar and Mehdi Raza.

“Hopefully these youngsters will win the national championships that will take place later this year,” the trainer concluded.
