Healthy and hygienic: Upscale meat shop chain opens outlet

The upscale meat chain offers 60 varieties of beef, chicken and mutton.

ISLAMABAD:

Meat One, a chain of specialty meat shops opened their first outlet at Jinnah Super market on Thursday evening. Australian High Commissioner Peter Heyward inaugurated the outlet. He was joined by officials of Al-Shaheer Corporation.

Speaking to The Express Tribune at the launch, Meat One’s parent company Chief Operating Officer Adnan Ahmed, said, “We have a stringent value chain process whereby animals are raised without the use of antibiotics and hormones, slaughtered at state-of-the-art abattoirs and meat stored at 0-5 degrees Celsius to prevent contamination from bacteria. We ensure that our products are sold fresh.”

Al-Shaheer Chairman Kamran Ahmed Khalili, said, “Meat One’s popularity in Karachi and Lahore is testament to our superior quality and taste.”

He added that the demand for such meat products had increased greatly over the past years, thus the company decided the time was right to take their products to other cities of Pakistan, and provide people with a healthier and fresher alternative to the usual meat available in the markets.

The upscale meat chain that offers 60 varieties of beef, chicken and mutton cuts is a well-established chain in Karachi where
it operates 12 outlets, and has now accelerated its growth to other urban centres of the country after last month’s store launch in Lahore.

Congratulating the company on their launch in the capital, the Australian High Commissioner, said, “Their supply chain network is impressive and ensures the public receive quality meat.

In particular, I am delighted that high quality Australian beef is amongst the products that Meat One brings to Pakistani consumers.”

Specialty meat shops are common around the globe, and it is good to know that similar initiatives are being taken in Pakistan, he added.

While the company has its own abattoir in Karachi, it plans to construct a modern slaughterhouse near Lahore in the future.
