ISLAMABAD: Fishermen continue to hook their lines in Rawal Dam despite a ban on fishing by the authorities. Fishing is banned in this time period as disturbing marine life in the egg-laying season poses a serious threat to them. Makeshift fish stalls on roads leading to the lake indicate that fishing is being undertaken in the dam with the connivance of Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) officials who have issued licences to people to catch fish. Khalid Sharif, a frequent visitor of the lake, said he has brought the issue to the notice of the CDA but the civic agency claims the issue falls in the jurisdiction of WASA.
