Rs5b scam: NAB takes action against graft in SBP

NAB chief refers the matter to the awareness and prevention division of the bureau and seeks a report on it.

LAHORE: The head of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, has taken action over Transparency International Pakistan’s (TIP) letter which raised the spectre of corruption in the State Bank of Pakistan, said sources in NAB. Sources further revealed that NAB chief has referred the matter to the awareness and prevention division of the bureau and has sought a report of the matter. According to TIP letter, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, TIP chief informed NAB chairman about the Rs5.3 billion corruption in State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) during 2012.
