How Pakistan treats its scientists

Letter November 06, 2010
The Parsi community, much like other communities of Pakistan, is one that has achieved a lot for the country.

KARACHI: This is with reference to Saleem H Ali’s article “How Pakistan treats its scientist” (November 5). The Parsi community – much like other communities of Pakistan such as Ahmadis, Agha Khanis, Hindus, Christian and Sikhs – is one that has achieved a lot for the country but is sadly not recognised or used for the betterment of our nation. If Pakistan was only composed of these groups, it would be a great country that would be admired globally; unfortunately hard-line elements have wrecked the country. Dr Salam eventually set up Trieste in Italy where a high number of Pakistanis get a place to study. People in this country shunned him and his institute whilst welcoming madrassas.
