PTI failed to control corruption in KP: Pervaiz Rasheed
Polls were supervised by the caretaker government and PML-N should not be blamed, says Rasheed.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid lashed out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday, accusing it of failing to deliver and control corruption in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Radio Pakistan reported.
In an interview, he said the verification of voters' thumb impressions as demanded by PTI chief Imran Khan was not possible due to the sub-standard ink used during the elections. He added that the polls were supervised by the caretaker government and that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should not be blamed.
The minister further said if anyone has any reservations regarding the elections being rigged, they should approach election tribunals and courts.
The minister said that the PTI government in K-P had not delivered its promises made during its election campaign. The party, he said, has failed to provide relief to the people of the province.
He said PTI could not control corruption in K-P, where cases could not be lodged against provincial ministers who were sacked on charges of corruption.
He said Imran and Pakistan Awami Tehreek leader (PAT) Tahirul Qadri were holding rallies on non-issues, adding that the PAT has no representation in Parliament nor does it believe in the Constitution and democracy.
Responding to a question, he said an independent judicial commission is probing the Model Town Lahore incident and everyone should wait for its recommendations.
