Innovation: NUST to hold business plan contest

A total of Rs2.5 million will be given to the winners of the competition.

ISLAMABAD:


Around 2,500 university students from around the country will participate in a business plan competition launched by the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).


Jointly organised by NUST and a cellular service provider, “NUST Business Plan Competition 2014” aims to encourage students to introduce innovative business and entrepreneurship ideas.

A total of Rs2.5 million will be given to the winners of the competition.

The winning team will get Rs500,000 while the first runner-up will receive Rs300,000. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the
top five teams from each track.

The competition was first held in 2011 and has also been endorsed by the government. In 2013, the competition attracted more than 1,600 students from 55 different universities and was recognised at an international forum for the business ideas it generated.

Several participants of previous competitions are now successful entrepreneurs running their own companies. Students and universities interested in the competition can register till September 14. The grand finale will be held in December.
