Sindh Home Secretary Dr Niaz Ali Abbasi issued the warning, stating that extra precaution needs to be adopted so that militants are unable to cause any damage by using chemicals or explosive materials through mail.
In a letter addressed to administrative secretaries, Abbasi said that the recent operation against militants had demanded extra vigilance and preventive measures, not only by law enforcement agencies but also by government offices.
He said senior and subordinate officers should adopt special measures to handle mail in order to avoid any incident in this regard.
Abbasi advised that arrangements be made in all departments, as well as in subordinate offices for proper checking of mail with the use of electronic devices so that any loss could be averted.

Seriously, what are you going to do if someone mails you arsenic? I doubt any of our bureaucrats are trained to deal with that. They need to start training them now.
The U.S....After 9/11 attacks... advised the postal worker to check the businesses and residences for any sign of suspicious activities when they drop mail at the locations; we can apply that extra measure too.
