Allocations: AJK assembly passes budget

Only Rs10 billion are allocated for development whereas Rs52 billion will go to meet the non-development expenditures

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Assembly on Monday passed Rs62 billion budget for the fiscal year 2014-15. Amendment proposed by both the opposition and treasury members to double the salaries of the Members Legislative Assembly (MLAs) was approved during the session. Only Rs10 billion are allocated for development whereas Rs52 billion will go to meet the non-development expenditures. AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed said that besides the allocation in the development head a huge amount from Public Sector Development Programme would be spent on mega projects such as Neelum Valley Road, Leepa Tunnel and railway track from Rawalpindi to Muzaffarabad.
