According to the police, the target was apparently Bacha Khan International Airport.
However, all four rockets hit adjacent areas while one rocket landed inside a brigade office, leaving two soldiers injured.
“There is evidence that all the four rockets were fired from Ghundi Afghan Refugee Camp located in the jurisdiction area of Tehkal police station as opposed to the previous practice of targeting the airport from Sarband, Pishtakhara and Suleman Khel," a police official told The Express Tribune.
"This is a new development indeed,” added the police official.
He said both wounded soldiers were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where their condition was said to be stable.

@msaeed: PMLn has a very poor record of handling healthy competition, worst a defeat. We go out and try to kill the opponent after cursing & swearing! Lol. Hopefully we learn like a successful student.
Its time Imran Khan turns his attention towards KPK. Though his cause for electoral reforms is just, his party's performance where in government is questionable. This is the second attempt on Peshawar airport. Post Karachi airport attack we expect nothing short of a pro-active approach from all stakeholders, yet not the first but this second attack. Sir please note though we desperately need electoral reforms, they won't do you much if you fail to deliver.
Also the government needs to come up with a plan to send the Afghans back, we already have enough of our problems
@msaeed: Delusional answer by a PTI lackey .
Learn to look at this from logic rather than pathos .
There isn't an ounce of logic on what you said.
Look at the way our LEA official works....instead of assessing around the whole area of the Airport perimeter & securing it, they just assumed few weak points from where shots were actually fired & will be fired in future & they just thought that the Afghan Refugee Camp is the most safest...? how very convenient....so know they will secure Afghan Refugee area only & when another shooting incident occur, they will secure that area & it will go on & on...this is the way we should be working ? Right ! no wonder we are in such a mess.
PTI take the bold step by vacating the surrounding areas of Peshawar Airport and settle the residents to another place. But I guess IK is afraid, Dharnas will start against his Government.
@Bilthe...can you guys for once come out of PTI phobia and think about country instead of playing politics, nawaz did the same couple of days ago with IDP issue by inviting IK on the day of jalsa, you want the issues of 67 years ti be solved in one years and on other hand after the rule of nearly 30 years in Punjab the situation is worst then any where else in the country and Model town incident is an example of what you have done with state institution over the years, its high time you guys introspect first and then taunt any one else..
Maybe this is the real tsunami.
Whenever there is PMLN and PPP in the Govt there is chaos in the country.
Welcome to Naya Pakistan y'all!
And PTI's baloney now will be that an airport is a federal subject and we ain't got anything to with it. What a bunch of degenerates the KPK people have elected.
@Aamir: I fully agree. Steop one has to be to immediately expel illegal immigrants (like EVERY OTHER country has). Second, in a humane and dignified way, return the refugees. Then we need a program to identify all the illegally obtained IDs and Passports by foreigners.
There's no more afghans refugees left in Pakistan as ID card and passport can be made just for couple of hundred rupees. You will not find these people, things are messed up so much and so badly.
PTI , I'm looking forward to your next dharna - NOT
Perfectly useless party!
Now that there is more stability in Afghanistan, we need to close all the refugees camps and ship all Afghans back to their own homeland.
