The minister said that local committees should follow the decision made by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which will determine whether Ramazan will begin on June 29 or June 30.
The announcement of the date will be made tonight after confirmed sightings of the crescent moon.
Ordinarily, certain parts of K-P observe Ramazan a day before the rest of the country.

The central Ruet e Hilal Committee extends to the whole of Pakistan from the northern most village in Hunza right down to the blessed shores of Karachi and Gawadar. So, WHY THE DIFFERENCE? All these mullahs need 'six of the best.' Ramazan Kareem Mubarak and Salams
@junaid: Arab roots ?? Are you kidding me, no Pakistani has Arab roots ....
Now please don't suggest that our country should be called Bakistan and not Pakistan........... lol
@junaid:
We have put own identity. Please go live with the Arabs if you identify more with them. And by the way, it IS Ramzan and it IS Jannat.
Pak's a huge country, even provinces. Cities are far apart. If a community or a town in any province, in following their Islamic practice correctly didn't sight the moon, what then? What happens? Threaten? Lock up? Mob attack? Mixing religion with nationalism leads to abusing religious freedom by the state. Folks taking issue on the different dates need to mature, be civil rather than feel awkward, invalidated or upset. Entire nation's unity and one's self-esteem or beliefs can't be so weak on a moon sighting disagreement.
ET it is Ramadan and not Ramzan, We should atleast take care of our Arabic roots. Also it is Jannah and not Jannat. There was a reason for 2 nation theory. Please publish this
Religion is about belief not logic. Anyone who thinks Ramazan starts on a different day, who is the state to suggest him/her the otherwise.
It should... hmmm... would it?
Good Decision of KPK Govt. must be observed to show unity among Muslims in Pakistan
Ramadan should begin on same day all over Pakistan. Hope that KPK will not indulge in the practice of observing fasts one day early. Provincial government should play its role for national harmony.
Wow, so it is still an issue in Pakistan.
