Shoot-out: Two killed, three injured in foiled robbery attempt

KOHAT:


Two people were killed and three others were injured in a robbery attempt in Naway Kalay, Kohat on Friday.


According to an official of the Cantonment police, Muhammad Usman reported to the police that around 3am he realised armed robbers had entered his house and began shouting to inform his neighbours of the break-in.

Upon hearing the ruckus, the robbers opened fire in the house which killed Usman’s brother Ibrahim.

Usman further told the police he shot at the thieves in response, and a shoot-out ensued. Usman’s mother and three robbers were injured in the exchange of fire.

The alleged robbers, identified as Umar, Osama and Arsalan, were held by Usman’s neighbours in an injured state.

The police official added police arrived at the scene and the injured accused were taken to Kohat Divisional Hospital, however, Umar died at the hospital. The remaining two are under police custody at the hospital.
