Karachi airport attack: Airport manager dismissed over 'mismanagement and negligence'
Malik has been replaced by Ali Jan Agha as Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) takes measures against officials following the airport attack.
CAA fire officer Faiz Akhtar and CAA General Manager Fire Raza Rizvi have also been removed from their posts.
On June 8, militants stormed into the Karachi airport in a midnight siege which left 30 dead, including all 10 militants. The Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier in the day, an inquiry committee absolved the CAA, Airport Security Force (ASF) and firefighters of blame for a devastating blaze which engulfed a cargo warehouse after the June 8 attack at the Karachi airport, leaving seven dead.
On Tuesday, Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani had taken notice of the cold storage fire incident and requested reports from the interior secretary and the Civil Aviation Authority chairman regarding the incident.

I left CAA back in the early 2000s, and immigrated to the UK, but had the privilege of briefly working with Mr. Malik. I can guarantee you that he is one of the most steadfast, and diligent officers working in the CAA.
It is an absolute disgust that an officer of such a high calibre was put on the sidelines, just to protect the sanctity of a few top officials. Nawaz Sharif is well-known for his blunderous actions, and I feel it was an act of erroneous scapegoating. The top officials should seriously review this decision.
Name is Afsar Malik, not Azfar Malik. And he was the first and perhaps the last honest and dedicated Airport Manager in whole civil aviation authority. He has been made a scapegoat to hide the institutional incompetence plaguing CAA. A day of celebration for corrupt and debauched in CAA.

Right...why not the head of CAA under whose jurisdiction all airports and their facility falls?
Just blame incompetent people who are hired and appointed by the same...
Though the report of JIT absolved the concerned authorities, removal took place after SC has taken notice....otherwise, no action would have been taken....which means the report will come under question in SC.....
What was his fault? Another victim of political drama.
