LAHORE: Provincial Secretary Environment Muhammad Anwar Rasheed on Wednesday said that work is speedily in progress on proposals to bring changes in import and export policies of chemicals. He said that it will be made binding upon pesticide-producing companies to use only chemicals which are environment-friendly to protect human life and the environment. He was addressing a seminar on bio-safety guidelines at FC College. The secretary said that research and study is at the core and is most essential when studying the impact on environment and human health before introducing any new seed variety. He said that it is also important to arrange a series of seminars to harmonise bio-safety guidelines with modern requirements. “Renowned experts in agriculture and environment will be invited to the seminars so that their expertise could be taken advantage of,” said Rasheed.
