PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Anwar Safi was injured along with his driver when gunmen ambushed his vehicle in Gulbahar No 4 early Thursday morning. Safi and his driver Qudratullah were rushed to a hospital where Safi was said to have sustained only minor injuries while the attackers managed to escape the scene of the crime. Earlier, Safi’s house was targeted in a low intensity explosion and he had also received an extortion call. “We have been told by the family that Anwar identified the attackers, but an FIR in this regard is yet to be registered,” said an official of the local police station.
