Leaders from the three parties gathered in Lahore on Wednesday to chalk out a strategy on inviting other political and religious parties to join their alliance.
PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and AML leader Sheikh Rasheed met PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri at his residence in Model Town. Government’s attempt to foil their welcome reception, the GT road march and Qadri’s gathering at The Mall previously scheduled for Tuesday night were discussed.
This was the Chaudhry brothers second meeting with Qadri in the last 24 hours.
Sources said that they reviewed their strategy and urged Qadri to prepare his workers for a long struggle after Ramzan.
Qadri was planning to postpone his visit to Pakistan due to operation Zarb-e-Azb, but the Model Town clashes between his supporters and the police forced him to expedite his return.
Shiekh Rashid and the Chaudhry brothers intend to invite Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to join their alliance against the government.
Talking to the media after the meeting, the leaders said that they were reaching out to religious and political parties to form a grand alliance.
They reiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should resign over the Model Town debacle.
They said that on Thursday, an important meeting will be held to further consultations and contacts with political and religious parties regardless of whether they agree with their 10 points or not.
Hostile treatment
The leaders claimed that 1,600 PAT workers were arrested and houses of their leaders and workers were being raided constantly.
They further claimed that of those injured during the Model Town clashes, at least one victim was being killed daily.

All the failed parties coming together to fight a big party.

For a grand alliance you have to have something grand(some seats in parliment , senate, that sort of thing)
Imran Khan has issues about electoral reform , that i can understand.
What ails Sheikh Rasheed,Chaudhrys and Tahir ul Qadri.Surely? Surely they dont think that their vote was stolen.
Grand alliance of PAT, AML and PML-Q will be nothing. It will be just: 0 + 0 + 0 = 0
Useless alliance, everybody knows this is an establishment-funded tea party. It’s better for Imran Khan to stay away from this pathetic agitation and focus on the plight of IDPs who deserve his attention most.
Instead of camouflaging its demerits and failure by baseless, embellished and fabricated statements by its representatives PML-N must has to announce mid-term elections so that Pakistan couldn't face the more clashes and collapses in any forms and manifestations because history has proven this that PML-N never completed its tenure due to massive and dangerous committed mistakes and this time also PML-N's never learning the any lessons from its past and repeating the same committed mistakes already has committed and faced the most worst and severe consequences in 1999.......
Not surprised that PTI and JI didnt join this "Grand" Alliance, seeing how they are already in a grand alliance with the Taliban...
Only genuine person who cares about Pakistan is Imran Khan and only genuine opposition is PTI.
@ASV: You mean PTI should except fake (jali) mandate of PML-N ?
This would actually be a good alliance, used to be a Imran Khan but ever since that Mian billionaire niece scandal, don't like him or support him anymore.
@G are you well, where are you from, do u live in Pakistan?
I agree with abdul suroor ... establishment is creating leverage to pressurize NS gov to let musshy leave the country and these lotta politicians are their pawns
"Nawaz is the only hope."
Good joke.
What has he done?
This 'Grand' alliance is not that grand. Remember PMLQ and others only represent handful of ppl. If they go back for votes, I am sure they will b disappointed. All puppets trying to bring the democracy down.
Alliance of losers, loan defaulters and conspirators. Can Mr Shujat HUSSAIN tell us, how much money was written off from his loans during Mr Musharraff time?
Imran Khan is doing a great service to democracy by staying out. One statement he should not make that Zardari government was better than present government otherwise people of Pakistan will elect Zardari back into power.
How can an alliance of AML, PML(Q) and PAT become a grand alliance? with how many seats? These opportunist politicians can really fool people...
Zero + Zero + Zero = ZERO
@Abdul Qadir: Sorry but Pakistan was also in the state of war in 2007 & 2008 when dirty politicians and dirty judges were given tons of coverage.
Despite all the pressure and drama, it is good that PTI has not joined Qadri Alliance. this is mature politics. PTI should stay focused on election reforms and accountability of those who rigged the elections!
If only all these leaders could lead their party workers in a massive long-march to Waziristan and FATA and confront / fight the terrorists there, just like they fought the police in Lahore, they could free Pakistan from terrorists in just one day. They don't need any weapons. Just a long-march to the region in millions, on the scale they are doing elsewhere in Pakistan, would do.
Pls sake of the GOd think about pakistan now Pakistan and govt in great fix .This time is not politics .
A very very sad picture indeed. Dont know when our army (establishment) will stop using these kind of tactics to override the civilian rule. establishment, please have mercy on this country, do your own job and let this country to stabilize and prosper for the sake of its citizen.
There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for breaking historical status coe in Pakistani politics formed by PMLN and PPP. Lets hope as TUQ is a honest and learned man.
I hope PTI will also join this alliance soon to pave the path for Martial Law.
I like the continuous efforts of molana qadri sahib he is the only person who can save our nation from these dirty politicians ...
@Ch. Allah Daad: maturity? Really? This insanity has got to stop. Imran Khan keeps criticizing the government and this may lead to derailment of democracy we don't need that at this moment. Even when our nation is war he has criticized the government and I consider that highly immature and unpatriotic. Side note: Sheikh Rasheed and Chaudry brothers are this spiritual leader's friends? Wow, they aren't know to be corruption free, just sayin'.
Opportunists.
Nawaz Sharif is the only hope from Pakistan. Other parties should not do criticism for the sake of criticism.
I think MQM and PTI will also join this alliance, Qadri is not only a great scholar but also a very visionary politician, he can change the future of Pakistani politics.
Pervez Musharraf is the bone of contention. These politicians are being used by establishment to pressurize the government. If government bows head on the issue of Musharraf, all will be fine. These politicians making alliance are just the agents of establishment.
Both PTI and JI have shown great signs of maturity. Best of luck to both.
I am supporter of Imran and I am happy that Imran is not part of this alliance.
I voted for PTI but I am highly disappointed. No respect left in my heart for Imran Khan. Imran was my leader but his present politics can derail the democratic system in Pakistan. He should show sportsman spirit and accept mandate of PML-n like his mandate was respected by PML-n in KPK. This politics of agitation is badly affecting the economy of Pakistan.
Pakistan is in the state of war and these dirty politicians are doing politics. Media should play its positive role. These selfish politicians should not be given coverage. Coverage should be given to our brave armed forces who are fighting against terrorism. Long live Pakistan.
