Second-seeded Tayyab came through the lower half, beating India’s Madhav Dhingra in quarter-finals in straight games within 33 minutes.
Although Dhingra showed resistance in the all three sets, Tayyab retained the upper hand and won with scores of 11-7, 11-9 and 11-8 to set up a clash with Malaysia’s Mohammad Syafiq Kamal, who came through after brushing aside Hong Kong’s Yuen Tsun Hei 3-0.
Tayyab had ended up as a losing semi-finalist in the last edition of the event, but is confident of his chances of becoming the junior Asian champion this time around.
Meanwhile, Israr Ahmed got the better of Hong Kong’s Lau Tsz Kwan winning 3-0 with ease.
It took just 25 minutes for Israr to cement a place in the semi-final as he triumphed 11-8, 11-7 and 11-7. He will now face top seed Kush Kumar of India.
Kumar ended the journey of Pakistan’s Asim Khan 3-2 in the quarters, in what was a marathon session between the two, which lasted for 84 minutes before Kumar came out on top with a score-line of 11-9, 11-3, 8-11, 12-14 and 11-2.
