The sudden spike in violence has claimed at least 17 lives in total since yesterday.
Express News correspondent Wasiq Muhammad reported today that one person was killed and another injured after unidentified persons fired outside SM Law College near the Sindh Secretariat. The deceased was identified as a rickshaw driver, Saeed Shah.
According to Saddar Town SP Salman Syed, Shah had eloped with a girl a week ago. After the girl ran away from home to get married in a court, her father had registered a kidnapping case against Shah.
The injured man was identified as a newspaper hawker named Asif. According to reports, Shah was the target of the attack, while Asif was caught in the crossfire. However, this has not been confirmed by the police.
In a separate incident earlier today, an unknown person slit the throat of Bilawal Ghullam Shabbir, killing him on the spot. The attack occurred on Khayaban-e-Roomi.
Five others were also killed in incidents of firing in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Bilal Colony in Korangi, Manghopir, Orangi Town and on Native Jetty bridge.
The deceased from the attack in Korangi was identified as 40-year-old Razzak. The identities of the others are not known.
Five arrested
Rangers conducted a search operation in Qasba Colony of Orangi Town and arrested five terrorists belonging to a banned outfit on Wednesday afternoon.
Hand grenades, detonators and explosives were also seized from their possession.
According to a Rangers colonel, these terrorists were involved in target killings as well as planting explosives in stolen rickshaws.
The arrested men originate from North Waziristan and had come to Karachi to seek refuge during the ongoing army operation.

Rather than try to change anything in the country, the focus of everyone (which appears to be the case at present) should be to leave the country and immigrate elsewhere. Nothing is going to change - corruption, hypocrisy, lack of education and a twisted interpretation of the faith will continue to keep the country from getting anywhere. We have nuts from England and Canada able to wreak havoc on the country - does that not say it all????
Hey - I'd like to be part of change too .... but once you have a family, priorities change. The retards that run the country have too strong of a grip on the place. Its sad ... but Pakistan is not ever going to make it on the world stage in a manner that would make anyone proud.
Can someone tell me what is the logic of covering the faces of the arrested. I know that they have not proven to be guilty in the court of law but nowhere else in the world I have seen this practice. Is Police just trying to fool us by putting pillow covers on heads of their colleagues to show that they are actually doing something other than looting the citizens during and after their duty times.
This is madness. Terrorism should be eliminated permanently. This nation needs peace and stability to progress
