Tragedy: Man, three minor sons drown in Attock

Three others killed in separate incidents.

Six persons including a man and his three sons were killed on Tuesday in three separate incidents in different parts of the district.


In a tragic incident in Kani Village of Jand Tehsil, a man and his three sons drowned in a stream while fishing. Abdul Majeed and his sons Abdul Hameed, Abdul Waheed and Abdul Khameed were fishing in a stream when they were dragged in by a strong wave. Villagers later recovered the bodies from the stream.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed and another man was seriously injured in a road accident near Choiee Bangla Village in the jurisdiction of Attock Saddar Police Station. The police said two residents of Nara Village, Jand Tehsil, were riding a motorcycle, when they were hit by a speeding pickup near Choiee Bangla Village on Attock-Basal Road. The motorcyclists sustained serious injuries.

The pickup driver took the two injured persons and abandoned them outside Attock District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Later, the local police and Rescue-1122 shifted the injured to the hospital, where Muhammad Akhtar died. The other injured person, Naveed Shehzad, remains in critical condition. The Attock City police have registered a case against the accused pickup driver and also impounded his vehicle.

In a separate incident, 19-year-old college student Danyial Mushtaq committed suicide by shooting himself with a pistol at his house near Muhallah Mehmood Mehal in Attock City. Earlier, he had been scolded by his father, police sources maintained.  Mushtaq was seriously injured and was taken to Attock DHQ Hospital, where he died.
