LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court on Monday granted bail to five workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek accused of murder, interfering in state matters, terrorism and other charges pertaining to the Model Town incident.

Faisal Town police produced case records and said the suspects had been arrested while carrying out anti-state activities and attacking police personnel. The suspects were on a judicial remand and had filed bail petitions.

The counsel for the accused said the PAT activists had been targeted by Punjab Police and implicated in a fake case.

The counsel said the fact that innocent people had been implicated spoke of police hooliganism.
