Threats: ‘Extortionist’ booked

The police have registered a case against an unidentified person and further investigation is underway.

RAWALPINDI: The City police have booked a man for allegedly attempting to extort money from a local trader. Muhammad Javed, a resident of Mohalla Chaudhry Hayat Khan, College Road, lodged a complaint with the city police that an unidentified man called him on his cell phone, demanding extortion money. He said that when he refused the demand, the alleged caller threatened him with dire consequences. He said the man called again after two days and demanded to deliver Rs70,000 at a location near Bhabar Bazaar. Javed told the police when he reached the spot, the alleged extortionist did not show up. The police have registered a case against an unidentified person and further investigation is underway.
