Targeting forces: Police official killed in IED blast in Lower Dir

A police official was killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unidentified militants exploded near a police van in Ouch, Lower Dir late Saturday night.


An official of Ouch police said the incident occurred around 10pm when Ashbanr police officials were patrolling Chakdara tehsil. As the police mobile reached Warsak Kandao, unidentified militants detonated a bomb planted along a roadside. The explosion damaged the police van and severely injured constable Islam Gul.


Gul succumbed to his injuries at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. A search operation was launched in the area but no one was arrested till the filing of this report. Police filed a case and further investigation is under way.


This was the second attack in two days in which security officials were targeted through IEDs.


Two law enforcements officials were killed and another was injured when an IED went off near a police van in Torghar district on Friday.
