Taking action : Crackdown against electricity theft

The XEN appealed to social activists and residents to help officials of the Water and Power Development Authority

CHARSADDA: As many as 16 people were arrested in Charsadda for electricity theft and not paying bills in a crackdown on Sunday. Charsadda XEN Haji Tahir Khan told journalists that Utmanzai Sub-divisional officer Abdur Razzaq launched an operation in the subdivision and its surrounding areas. “At least 16 people were held, out of which six were arrested for electricity theft, while 10 were held for not paying electricity bills,” said Khan. Taking action against defaulters is the only way to get rid of power outages in the area, he added. Separate cases were filed against the accused. The XEN appealed to social activists and residents to help officials of the Water and Power Development Authority by pointing out individuals involved in electricity theft.
