Lebanon defeated Uzbekistan 20-19 to lift the title in the Asian Five Nations (A5N) Rugby Division West III Tournament in Lahore on Sunday.
Lebanon, who were touted as favourites in the group, had defeated hosts Pakistan 17-3 in their opening match on June 19. India on the other hand lost to Uzbekistan 23-17 in the semi-final.
Lebanon captain Karim Jammal told the media after the match that he is happy with his team’s performance as they had now progressed to Division II of the region.
“We are very happy with the way we played,” said Jammal. “It was a good match.”
